This small Hei Toki 5.5cm x 2.5cm is carved from the rind of a Kawakawa Pounamu slab. The rind of many Jades is exposed to weathering and in this case it has resulted int he golden yellow colouring of the material.
This Toki is finished with a medium-high gloss polish and features the centreline channel that is a recurring design element of the Toki carved at the FVH studio.
The material for this Toki was originally sourced from Ngati Waewae contacts who live on the West coast of the South Island.
