Goodletite, aka "ruby rock", New Zealand's rarest mineral.
This toki was carved from a slab of the rare goodletite rock. I received the material late in 2025 from my contacts in Hokitika. This piece is fuchsite-heavy and has an incredible blue-green hue, much paler than some other goodletite pieces. It has significant light penetration and took a beautiful polish. I decide not to tie a lashing, but secured the cord via some holes at the back in order to preserve as much of the stone-face as possible.
After finishing, this Toki found its way back to New Zealand where it is now in a private goodletite collection.
